A group of nearly 40 of us went down for their 'We love the 70s' weekend, and I was surprised by how Butlins kept exceeding my (admittedly low-ish!) expectations: an upgrade of our clean, simple rooms... read more »

We stayed in the Lakeside Chalets and they were beautiful. Very modern, clean and spacious. The facilities are excellent if you have children. We were a group of mainly adults and we actually spent more time in the Minehead town which is a short walk away and also very nice. We would definitely cone back for a family holiday once the children are a bit older.
The apartments are really nice with one bedroom with two twin beds and another bedroom with one double bed. You can hire cots or bring Travel Cots. There is an emergency hospital around the area near a supermarket and McDonald's. The town is not far and the staff organise activities for the children and parents. There is parking spaces outside most apartments as well as a swimming pool, restaurants, launderette and a corner shop. The beach is also just outside the resort and you can almost get a view of Wales (only just!).
Just for tots week was absolutely awesome! My 2 year old was entertained and catered for 100%. The accommodation (we were upgraded to silver for no reason at all) was immaculate and had everything we needed. The many parks and outdoor activities kept us busy well past bedtime, and the pool and other indoor entertainments were all day long. We'll be back very soon!
Stayed For 5 Days. It Is a Fun Experience. We Stayed In A Silver Bungalow. Very Clean Houses And Friendly Staff. The Kids Enjoyed The Whole Thing.
Food was not nice at all. Food was not cooked on the day tasted days old and reheated. Worrying was there were hand sanatisers located all over the place, which got me thinking is there a underlying hygiene problem at this resort. Our accommodation was infested with Ants. And for a block booking of 12 people we was separated all over the site. The majority of the staff did not speak English, so explaining that our rooms had not been vacuumed before we took our room keys was hard to express. It was not like the Butlins I attended many years ago. Next time I will go for the cheaper but cleaner Haven holiday.
