Willen Lake, Milton Keynes
(3.7/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
One of the more important features of the area is a large lake on the River Ouzel, Willen Lake. This lake was designed to capture flash floods in case they cause problems downstream. The north basin is a wildlife sanctuary and a favorite of migrating aquatic birds, so during your exploration you can watch for interesting animals. The south basin is for leisure use and a hotspot for activity, favored by wind surfers and dinghy sailors. The circuit of the lakes is a favored running spot as well. • Great day spent at willen, rode the small train, hired a trike and played in the play area. Loads to do such as boats, water ski and much much more. Take lots of pennies ;-)
  • Always good for a day out with the kids. So much to do, walking round the lake and feeding the ducks, running round the large grassy areas, and the park there is fantastic. Massive enclosed park with ...  more »

  • I love mazes and have never done a ground maze as big as this! I thought it might be easy but you can't see where the paths go so it is a challenge. We visited after rain and both the paths and surrounding grass were rather wet so we had to tread carefully. I can imagine you could wear you kids out running round it!! Nice to see such an unusual feature in a lovely setting.
