Matlock Farm Park, Matlock

3.7
#1 of 10 in Outdoors in Derbyshire
Farm Tourist Spot
Matlock Farm Park is a family friendly open farm set in a beautiful and tranquil location.

The park has a large selection of animals including llamas, goats, meerkats, turkeys, peacocks, deer, cattle, wallabies, ducks, alpacas and sheep to name but a few.

The pet rabbits are always a favorite with the children along with the opportunity to help feed the young lambs (seasonable). Children will learn about the countryside and have fun alone the way.

Children's parties are catered for and horse riding lessons and pony trekking is also available by advanced booking. There are several play areas too for the kids to let off steam!

There is also a lovely licensed cafe serving homemade meals and snacks.

  • Highly recommend a visit. Extremely well run with plenty of staff on hand if you need them. Lots of very well looked after animals you can feed and stroke. Lots of hand sanitizer all round the park. W...  more »

  • A great day out with the family. The children all really loved it - there is plenty to do there, and the staff were brilliant. We missed the lizard show, and the kids were upset, so the manager and assistant ( I think) got out their reptile collection anyway for us, and let all the kids hold the snake and gheko and stroke the bearded dragon As well as a good collection of farm animals, there are a couple of play areas, large sand pit, some exotic birds, tortoises and rabbits, and the kids also really enjoyed the electric quad bikes (additional £1 charge - totally better value than one of those moving things in shopping centres though and get longer). All in all we went their for the kids, and they absolutely loved it, they were in their element and had a fantastic day, our group had ages between 2 and 5 so for these age ranges it is perfect. Highly recommend to go with kids - maybe not for adults only.
  • A fantastic day out and real value for money - it feels like they should be charging more! My 4 year old really enjoyed feeding the animals (£1), playing in the playgrounds, jumping on the bouncy castle, going on a pony ride (£2.50) and a quad bike ride (£1). We mothers enjoyed chatting over coffee in the marquee, lunch in the cafe and being assisted at every stage by extremely pleasant staff. We will return.
  • For £30 I'm afraid to say it was utter rubbish, you can experience it in 15 minutes. The animals are kept poorly, the size of the cage for one of the ferrets was appaling, as an experienced ferret owner he looked distressed and bored. The site is in a poor state in my opinion.
  • Great for young children, nice safe environment with plenty to keep them occupied
  • Not really much to do here - Only went as we had a groupon - would not pay full price!
