Matlock Farm Park, Matlock
(3.8/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Matlock Farm Park is a family friendly open farm set in a beautiful and tranquil location.

The park has a large selection of animals including llamas, goats, meerkats, turkeys, peacocks, deer, cattle, wallabies, ducks, alpacas and sheep to name but a few.

The pet rabbits are always a favorite with the children along with the opportunity to help feed the young lambs (seasonable). Children will learn about the countryside and have fun alone the way.

Children's parties are catered for and horse riding lessons and pony trekking is also available by advanced booking. There are several play areas too for the kids to let off steam!

There is also a lovely licensed cafe serving homemade meals and snacks.

  • A fantastic day out and real value for money - it feels like they should be charging more! My 4 year old really enjoyed feeding the animals (£1), playing in the playgrounds, jumping on the bouncy castle, going on a pony ride (£2.50) and a quad bike ride (£1). We mothers enjoyed chatting over coffee in the marquee, lunch in the cafe and being assisted at every stage by extremely pleasant staff. We will return.
  • My son and niece enjoyed their afternoon at Matlock Farm Park, there was lots to do and see, my niece liked petting the small animals and feeding the big ones. The food isn't too expensive either which is sometimes the case at such places. I think 4hrs max is suitable for a visit, any longer and I think the kids would get a bit restless.
  • Excellent for young kids, a good value no frills farm park. Kids get to feed the animals and there a couple of play areas. Plenty of ducks and geese to feed and the kids get the chance to hold some of the smaller animals ( rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises etc.). A nice relaxing day for parents as well. It's out in the wilds a bit, so go well wrapped up in winter!
  • Went riding here last summer, was a fab experience! Hadn't been in the saddle for a few months, so just went on a hack- walk, Trot, canter thru the forest. Instructor was really nice, will definitely go back when I'm around that area!
  • Took my 4yr old daughter for her first ever riding lesson.I know I was more nerves than her....she loved it! A massive thank you to Amber and the girl's(sorry I didn't get their names.)who totally looked after her and made sure that she was not only safe, but that she had fun and also learnt about riding...we now have a lovely picture of 'Soda' that she has drawn.Brilliant experience and will not be her last.Thank you again girl's.
