Gulliver's Kingdom, Matlock Bath

3.7
Spend time with your young children at Gulliver's Kingdom, an amusement park located on a steep wooded hill, with many rides nestled amongst the trees. While waiting in line for rides, enjoy the view of Starkholmes and the Heights of Abraham. However, take note of the workout the hilly grounds will require, as it may not be suitable to the mobility-impaired. However, it is possible to catch the chairlift to the top of the hill and work your way down. Plan my Matlock trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • I first came here as a child and now bringing my own 5 year old it brings back great memories! Good choice of rides and things to do, he especially loved the JCB area (we revisited at least three time...  more »
  • Took my 5 & 3 year old daughters, who loved it, as did mum & I. The rides are great for kids (I'd say) under 10, as there's nothing too scary. We went right at the start of the season, so didn't have ...  more »

  • Small and quite tired entertainment park for kids, but lovely and friendly staff plus what a fabulous location. We spent good 4 hours there and we enjoyed it a lot. Selection of rides and playgrounds is perfect for toddlers and younger kids. We were pleased with the chairlift that saved us a lot of walking up the steep hill. The staff was extra friendly and helpful. You could see you are very welcome there.
  • Young kids (3 yrs) absolutely loved it and so did we. They got on nearly all the rides. They have to be 90cm to get on most. The food we got was really good quality and very well priced. The staff were lovely. It is built on a big hill and there are a lot of hill climbs though there is a chairlift that can get you top-bottom-top. Best bet is to get chairlift up and work your way down. We did this and then went back up again! Great for dinosaur and digger fans. The area it is in and the views it offers are the cherry on top. Thoroughly recommended.
  • The theme park is built in the side of a very VERY steep hill. This means that walking between attractions you will be up and down VERY steep slopes - make sure you're wearing the right kind of shoes! We visited on a Saturday in gorgeous weather and the longest we waited for anything was about 15 minutes. The park was really busy but as it's so spread out there's plenty to keep everyone moving. Our almost 4 year old at 93cm tall could go on almost everything, so would definitely recommend going with children over 90cm to make the most of the day. Food was reasonably priced for a theme park but there were plenty of places to have a picnic. If you can avoid taking a buggy - I would! Everything is a little dated and some things didn't work quite right but it was a great day out for the price we paid (£11 per person) and we easily managed to do everything in one day.
  • It is very entertaining for kids up to teenage with rides for all ages. The food is oriented along fast food lines and presumed kids preferences but not terrible. There are good vegetarian options in most places, if not all. The rides range from the tranquil to the exciting but nothing that would make you lose your lunch. Some are quite different such as the monorail ride. All in all a good experience for the money (and there are offers on regularly).
  • Excellent place best suited for preteen kids. I don't think older kids will find it too exciting. Good food (Canyon Grill). The weather behaved so we had a great day with our 6yo. Be warned though it's all constructed on a hillside so there are lots of steep climbs (there is a chairlift and a travelator). Recommend.
