Gulliver's Kingdom, Matlock Bath

3.7
Spend time with your young children at Gulliver's Kingdom, an amusement park located on a steep wooded hill, with many rides nestled amongst the trees. While waiting in line for rides, enjoy the view of Starkholmes and the Heights of Abraham. However, take note of the workout the hilly grounds will require, as it may not be suitable to the mobility-impaired. However, it is possible to catch the chairlift to the top of the hill and work your way down. Plan my Matlock trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • Gulliver’s Kingdom is a great theme park. The views from the park are great of the surrounding landscape of Matlock Bath. We decided to come here after being scared away by how busy Alton Towers was -...  more »

  • Good place to take your kids. Easily fill a whole day here. Staff we saw were all friendly. Be prepared to do lots of walking, especially as it's on a hill! Some steep climbs to some parts! Some new rides and some old rides, the older parts were a little worn and aged, some interactive things didn't work! Be aware of the height restrictions on certain rides. We went with our 3yo who was just under 90cm, which unfortunately meant he was quite limited on the rides he could go on, even with an adult. But overall good theme park, tickets are quite expensive, looking at nearly £20 each to get in! (thankfully we only went on their toddler plod charity day which was only £6 to enter but park only had certain rides open for couple of hours after the toddler walk)
  • Excellent theme park for young children my grandson had a great day & didn't want to leave. The staff are so lovely & helpful encouraging the kids high five as they leave the rides. Food & ice creams a little on the expensive side but the food was nice enough cost us £30 for 3 small jacket potato's 1 small coke & a bottle of water. My grandson loved the rides we spent 6 hours there he wanted to play crazy golf but by the time he'd done with the rides he was out of time. He can't wait to go again & I can't either.
  • Visited on 30th September (Saturday). Weather was a mixed bag: Light showers till 11.00, Grey (but dry) skies till 3.00 pm - when the heavens opened up and chucked it all down. Pros? Very short queues - almost non existing in most places. Cons? Place looks a bit run down - with some rides and attractions bordering on 'Outright Shabby'. Hints: (1) Give the mini golf a miss. Tatty - with some holes flooded - not a pleasant experience. (2) There are few adrenaline seekers' rides... limited to one 'blue' ride in the middle of the park, one log flume and one rocker boat. (3) Bring your own lunch and snacks... unless thick based pizza at £8 each is your style. (Choice of around 5 toppings) (4) A new confidence building climbing frame (say 3 stories high) is brilliant - but you need to plan your visit - as these have specific start times spaced 45 minutes apart.
  • "Brilliant amazing" my daughter says (aged 7) I enjoyed it too, was an early summer school holiday visit.. we barely queued at any ride . lots to see , staff very friendly , site set on massive hill, be prepared to climb! Would go again. (but I may have been lucky with the not so many people there)
  • Absolutely love Gulliver's! There's something for everyone. Our 5 year old was tall enough for the bigger rides this year so was in his element. They've really thought it through, though, as next to the big rides are play areas for little ones & milder rides for the less brave. And the crows nest that opened this year was loved by everyone (except me - I stayed on the ground & took photos!)
