Descend into the The Shell Grotto and discover 4.6 million shells decoratively set in 21 m (70 ft) of winding underground passages leading to a rectangular chamber. Read about the 1835 discovery of this mysterious place, and the guesses that have been made about when and why it was created. Let your imagination run wild, admire the ornate designs, and appreciate the dedication and skill of whoever put them there. Browse the onsite shop and pick up a souvenir inspired by one of the designs in the grotto. Visit the cafe for drinks and light snacks.
