  • This is quite small but an interesting, mysterious, quirky place. Not too expensive. Worth visit if you are exploring the retro trail as its off Northdown Road.

  • Loved it indeed! A jewel that waits to be uncovered! We stumbled upon it by mistake, which is not very satisfying. I think more people sgould know about it! Nice staff, cute souvenirs and overall a great experience!
  • The Shell Grotto is an incredible place to visit. It is larger than expected. Words and photos do not do this place justice. It is about a 15 minute walk from there sea front and definitely worth visiting if you are in Margate. The staff are friendly and helpful. A real hidden treasure that was thankfully discovered. A good gift shop too.
  • My most favourite place in this towns long list of historical places of interest! Amazing, fascinating and beautiful place to visit if in town.Margate truly is the most intriguing place, quirky and bursting to the brim with history, graded buildings and subterranean passage ways such as the shell grotto!
  • Such an unusual little place. The entrance fee is so small and you'll only spend 10 minutes in the grotto itself, but it's really beautiful and you can get a bit caught up in wondering why it was ever created.
  • One of many fascinating historical places to visit here in Margate Kent. On a personal level the shell grotto is without dought my most favourite place in the entire world! No one can be sure who?why ?or when? theses underground passage ways that are covered from top to bottom in shells, were built Must go and see for yourself !
