We spent an hour looking around this gallery, but it was rather full of modern art which is not to our taste. We wee impressed by the way the new wings have been attached to the original building and ... read more »
The gallery is excellent, especially since the extension was opened. You can see why it's an award wining building and it's worth going just to sit in the cafe area or in the little garden at the back... read more »

Great gallery, free, with an amazing well stocked cafe. Clean toilets, okay on street parking (I went in the evening) and they encourage you to take photos! Nice shop. All in all a great experience.
Marvellous multi award winning gallery . The recent refurbishment transformed the gallery from very good to great. Interesting permanent collection and good temporary exhibitions. Lovely cafe as well.
A good modern gallery with a ye old building married to a modern rebuild and refurbishment. The works are art are sophisticated and you might take some time to take them in. However, it is worth it to understand the context behind some of the works and the reasons they were created. Recommended if you want food for thought.
This newly expanded and renovated Art Gallery was a breath of fresh air! We really enjoyed the very Modern Contemporary and somewhat Experimental Art. I must say we have seen better but it's nice to see its excellent collection. A lot of mood-lit 3-D exhibits were quite large. You can tell they put a lot of effort into them. I liked the chosen colors and patterns. Somewhat blends in well with this great City. The Gallery's Cafe was a nice break. Finally a proper cup of coffee. Mind you it's a little far from the City but well worth checking out their exhibits.
The main exhibit when I visited was about wallpaper; it did give me some inspiration for my own home. There were some interesting pieces on display, especially artwork from the first world war trenches. I couldn't find much high culture elsewhere in the city, so was grateful to visit here.
