The Manchester Museum, Manchester

4.6
With access to 4.5 million artifacts from every continent, The Manchester Museum is a vital research facility for the University of Manchester. The neo-Gothic building is centrally located on the university campus, so you can combine a museum visit with a tour of the university grounds. In 2011, the museum opened Living Worlds, an exhibit that encourages visitors to reflect on their own attitude toward nature. The Ancient Worlds exhibit involves a hands-on approach to explore the work of archaeologists. In 2013, Nature's Library opened to the public holding thousands of artifacts against the backdrop of Gothic Revival architecture. • Good variety of exhibits, and seasonal change of special exhibit is really good. Stuff in museum shop is a bit pricey, but the museum is free so I cannot really complain. I love the live animals exhibit. Nature is truly wondrous and if we spent the time admiring it and observing it instead of being obsessed with mobile phones, we would be more constructive human beings, instead of an increasingly zombie species!
  • Amazing place and MUST visit spot in Manchester. The description of each artifact can be given individually which can help anyone to understand what it is about. They have immense collecting of artifacts, Egyptian one's and Roman one's are just awesome. Visit to see for yourselves.
  • This is a great place for the family, loads of intresting things to see and learn about. Staff are helpful and friendly especially the lady on reception she gave us loads of information on events that were upcoming.. will definitely be returning.
  • Went here on the spur of the moment to get our son out of the house on a miserable, wet day. Very impressed with the varied collections here, plenty to see. Friendly staff throughout. It is free but do make sure to donate some money to help with the upkeep of this asset. Good, well stocked shop.
  • Very nice staff and a big selection of food. The museum has a nice atmosphere to it and it never fails to amaze. It really does deserve 5 stars! ⚄😀
