  • The park has come a long way since it was just a freshwater swimming pool and a couple of swings. The amenities are good and kids splash zone has been joined by a fantastic new crazy golf centre. Stroll across to the quayside to see the London barges moored alongside historic pubs and let the kids dash around the splash zone to their heart's content. During holidays, the fun factor is ramped up further with the addition of a small travelling funfair. Be careful not to overrun your parking ticket as the wardens are very efficient. If the sun is shining, it can't be beaten.
  • Promenade Park is wonderful. We've only recently found it and it is the closest place for us to go crabbing. My son LOVES crabbing. When we got there I thought we were going to be disappointed as it was evidently low tide but the boating lake means you can go crabbing regardless of the tides. You CAN go crabbing on the lake - the signs are a bit misleading but there is one, on one of the entrances, that tells you you are allowed. Aside from the crabbing there is loads of stuff to do. A good sized climbing "ship", nice scenery, loads of places to eat and just a short walk in to the town. £7 for an all day parking ticket
  • Brilliant place to visit for all ages but especially for kids during school holidays. Plenty of open spaces for ball games, nice traffic free level walk alongside river, pond for model boats and crabbing, sandy play area, skateboard and BMX area, large crazy golf, nice well equipped swings and roundabouts near main entrance, large enclosed grassed area for kids near promenade with huge pirate ship and picnic tables and beach huts, 2 pubs, snack bars and seafood. Within walking distance of town centre (steep hill to walk up).
  • Apart from bouncy castles there is nothing for toddlers. Both the water splash and the pirate ship were very busy with older children but you cant put a toddler into the mix as they just get bowled over . Even the bouncy castles are not really suitable. Just a couple of little roundabouts especially for the under 5's would be appreciated i'm sure.
  • A beautiful place to visit with plenty for all ages to enjoy. Probably at its best when sunny and dry but a winter's frost is almost as nice. It's got it all, with style!
