Leeds Castle, Maidstone

(4.2/5 based on 3,000+ reviews on the web)
A favorite wedding venue for local couples, Leeds Castle is widely regarded as one of England’s most romantic locations. A castle has been on this site since 1119, eventually coming into the hands of King Edward I, for whom it became a beloved home. Henry VIII used it in the 16th century, making it an official residence for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. Today, the castle is a major attraction, including a maze, grotto, golf course, and what may be the world’s only museum of dog collars. Tickets are valid for a whole year, so you can visit the castle as many times as you wish. Skip the long line by booking online. • One of the best preserved castle in the area. Big park and garden. Magnificent lake in front of the castle make it unique. Lots of fun and activities for children. I love the fireworks nights over Gay Folks night. Perfect for family day out.
  • A wonderful Place to visit. the castle is set in well kept grounds with plenty of amazing views, the castle is a must see attraction for any one in the area that is interested in history. The food in the restaurant is great value and a wide selection of options. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for somewhere to explore and walk. The birds of prey show located in the grounds is a must see for anyone visiting.
  • Really a very good outdoors venue for the family, plenty of places to stop and picnic, and a specific play area for young children. Various activities going on a different times of the year. Can get very busy though especially parking but your ticket lasts a year so you can come back for free any time during that year! Not quite so much to do on a bad weather day!
  • A great site with a variety of things to do that should keep the children entertained. Beautiful surroundings, ideal for a picnic. It's quite pricey but the ticket includes access for the whole year. Probably best to make a second trip to make it worth it - don't lose your ticket!
  • Beautiful place to visit, interesting history, including more recent history. Lovely grounds. We didn't have time to check out the maze but our guide says it is fun, if a little difficult. We did purchase some of the spiced Mead, it was delicious!
