  • If you happen to be in the Maidenhead area, this is a must go-to place. Very scenic, very "nature", affordable prices and excellent food.  more »
  • If you are in Maidenhead and want to spend some time by the river, Ray Mill Island is a little gem. Watch the gin palaces and barges going through the lock, have an ice cream at the kiosk on the islan...  more »
  • We go here often. Car parking is reasonable at the little park just along from the lock itself. The children enjoy the park as it has a large sand area. Remember to bring your bucks and spades! There ...  more »

  • Lovely beautiful place. Has a small playground and benches with a coffee/ice cream shop, picturesque waterways, fountains, weir and of course the river! Popular with canoeists, stopping by on a bike ride and taking the family for the afternoon (with easy pushchair and wheelchair access). There's a large guinea pig enclosure and a couple of large exotic bird enclosures for the kids to see also. Nearby is the lock to watch the boats go through, great on a sunny afternoon, with a small ice cream hut too. There's a cheap pay car park nearby over the road with lots of space (don't use the expensive one with playground further down). Bad points: * There are male/female/baby change toilets, but they really were quite fikthy, which was a real let down when taking the kids. Use the nearby bar instead. * Occasionally there's groups of lads that like to take a few cans of lager and lounge about topless on the grass areas by the river, although never seen any trouble. But still not ideal when you have small kids with you. * The Boulters bar/restaurant nearby is overrated and grossly overpriced - £2.50 for a tiny kids lolly that's around 50p elsewhere! Don't expect change from a fiver (or more!) if you ever want a pint too.
  • Fantastic place for family day or just for walk and chillout. Highly recommended all year around. Next to Boulters Restaurant & Bar where you can enjoy great food and cocktails.
  • Good place to have a walk, feed the ducks & have a cupa, snack or an ice cream. A lively place to have a picnic There's small animals there, birds & guinea pigs.
  • For a relatively small place this holds many treasures. You've got the guinea pig and bird cages, great views of the Thames and the nearby weir, and an assortment of play equipment. There are large numbers of benches overlooking the river and suitable toilet facilities. Can get busy during the weekends and the summer, especially the hot food and ice cream stalls, but peaceful and quiet during the week. Open from 7am each day and the best parking is a few minutes walk up the road. I recommend carrying on your walk further up the Thames towards Cookham too.
  • Nice peaceful park on an island of the Thames. Shame they are building lots of houses opposite
