  • Small but very cool. Have some nice art. Friendly staff.
  • Delicious food freshly made lots of healthy choices.
  • Half art gallery, half cafe, this place is a quiet spot away from the busy town centre. An outdoor courtyard that catches the sun, and an airy loft space for the cafe makes for a brilliant place to have a light lunch with friends. Sells breakfast foods, lunch, and an assortment of soft drinks and coffees, which also come decaffeinated on request.
  • My wife and I were looking for somewhere to have a light lunch on the monthly "Treacle Market" day. My wife has a restricted diet and a baked potato was the only thing on the menu that she could have. When we asked for a table we were told that they were really busy and that even though there were tables available we wouldn't be served for about 10 minutes. That was fine with us and so we were seated, the waitress gave us menus, told us about the specials, and then went away to deal with other customers. After about 10 minutes an elderly member of staff (he acted like he was the owner so perhaps he was) came over to take our order and when my wife said she wanted a baked potato he quite abruptly told us that they "don't do" baked potatoes on Treacle Market days. When we said that my wife was on a restricted diet and that the reason we were there was because their menu had them on he was completely unsympathetic. Just reiterated that they're too busy to do them on Treacle Market days. I tried to suggest to him that this could have been mentioned earlier but he seemed to be very grumpy (probably because they were so busy) and just disappeared. This obviously made me feel quite disgruntled - and so once my wife and I had put on our coats, gathered our bags, and were heading out the front door I was grumbling to her about how ridiculous it was that if they regularly don't do something from the menu on market days that there was no indication nor had we been told when being seated. I didn't realise that I was in earshot of the gentleman that had been abrupt with us just a few minutes before and he asked me "what's ridiculous?" and when I turned around and started to explain that he should inform customers with a sign or when they're sat down or at least with anything he didn't let me finish... he just interrupted me and told me to "vacate the premises". I tried to carry on the conversation but he ignored me and disappeared back inside. I have never been treated so rudely by someone in a café or restaurant and I find it hard to believe that he is in a customer facing role with his lack of manners (in fact downright rudeness) and his cafe's obvious disregard for keeping customers informed. Surely if they had time to point out the specials menu they had time to tell us about things that were not on the menu? And the customer friendly response to someone being on a restricted diet would be asking my wife what her dietary restrictions are in order to consider if an alternative menu choice would suit.
