The Seal Sanctuary, Mablethorpe

(900+ reviews on the web)
Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Walk through .8 hectares (2 acres) of sand dunes, and gain first-hand experience of some of the county's most stunning wildlife at The Seal Sanctuary. Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary, only 50 m (164 ft) from the sea, has rescued hundreds of injured and orphaned seals since it opened in 1974. In a specially designed hospital, the seals are looked after until they can be released back into the wild. Meanwhile, look out for the foxes, badgers, barn owls, and kestrels that have been provided refuge in the Wildlife Centre. The on-site cafe offers drinks, sandwiches, cakes, and more. Work out when and for how long to visit The Seal Sanctuary and other Mablethorpe attractions using our handy Mablethorpe travel itinerary planner.

  • We have previously visited the sanctuary and always been happy with the visit, and today was no exception. My children got to feed the sealion's today as there was only a few of us there (obviously this wouldn't have happened if there was more people but this made our day, lovely staff and lovely animal's). I will continue to recommend this place to anyone! Thanks for a nice day. 😀😀
  • A very good place to visit if you are in the area. The animals all look well and happy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend it to everyone.
  • What a god awful place! How anyone can call this a sanctuary I will never know! Seals in cramped tanks with dirty water and no stimulation, birds that are in cages too small for them to fly properly and plucked feathers from obvious distress! The site itself is rundown and shabby it wasn't disabled friendly at all! I would not recommend this place ever! Avoid at all costs! Those poor animals need rescuing from that hell hole
  • A really fun and interesting day for children, families and adults. Not just seals; reptiles, birds of prey, Meerkats, rabbits, fish, a walk through time (fossils and dinosaur exhibit), birds, and even big cats. Nice cafe/restaurant and right by the beach so you can spend the rest of your day there if you so choose. Car parking is £2 all day and you can leave the sanctuary and come back if you have your hand stamped.
  • Love seeing rescued seals. So many other animals to see and fall in love with. So knowledgeable. Worth every penny. Will be coming back. The food is all from fresh and scrummy. Helpful staff.
