  • This is a really good place for a short walk (say 1 hour) around the lake contained by the dam. Watch out for kingfisher and other birds you don't see every day. Stick to the paths with small children...  more »

  • I absolutely love a walk around Lymm Dam, I was fortunate to grow up in Lymm and the Dam was one of the many places we used to play, it has over recent years been improved making it much easier to walk the whole way round, it is also worth taking a visit to Lymm village, I highly recommend both.
  • This has always been a special place for me. Lymm Dam is a lake with a pleasant footpath running around its edge, and it's lovely to walk by the water, beneath the trees. On the eastern side there's a sandy cliff of sorts, and it's nice to sit up there, looking out across the lake, watching the ducks and coots. Take a wander across the road and down the steps and you'll find the picture-postcard Lymm village, full of interesting shops and places to eat & drink, watching the world go by. A bit of an oasis, just a stones throw from the hustle & bustle of Manchester and the motorways.
  • I visited there twice and definitely go again. Walking around dam lake in a rainy day is so peaceful.
  • I love this place... I have some very fond memories from walking around this lake when I was younger and it's stuck with me through to adulthood.
  • Living so close lets me enjoy this great park when it isn't too busy. At weekends it can get quite packed, but the woods, lake and numerous well maintained paths allow people to "get lost" quite easily. It's peaceful and really reflects the seasons, constantly changing. It's a short walk down the steps into the village to the lower dam and some great "local" shops. Oh and did I mention there is a bacon sandwich caravan often parked just outside (mostly for the fishermen) but great for a warming cuppa and bacon buttie.
