  • Very interesting old castle, you can walk inside and see all the workings. A slight climb but well worth the effort
  • This is run by English Heritage but free to enter. It is set in the lovely village of Lydford and we had a look around after visiting Lydford Gorge. The castle was in fact a prison and Courthouse and ...  more »
  • Maintained by English Heritage, not much to it but not bad for a 15 minute stop for free. Wander down the stairs to nowhere really big if you have young kids then they are excited as its a castle and ...  more »

  • A medieval gaol moonlighting as a castle ruin. Worth a visit if you're passing.
  • Not actually a castle...an old prison. Pretty out of the way, but a good little hidden gem. The church next door was fun to explore as well. Lovely setting.
  • Good castle to visit in about an hour, if in the area would recommend Lydford gorge or the granite way, both fantastic walks.
  • Very interesting Castle with free entry.
  • Does not deserve a detour from my point of view.
