Dominating the town centre is the exceptionally fine 15th-century parish church of St Laurence, with its 41m / 135ft elegant tower, wonderfully carved misericords and stained glass windows, reflecting the town's prosperity as a centre of the wool trade in the Middle Ages. The ashes of the poet A. E. Housman (1859-1936), the author of 'A Shropshire Lad', were scattered in the churchyard.

  • This is a lovely church with a lot of history. It has beautiful windows and the choir stalls were very impressive.
  • Well kept up local Parish church with beautiful stain glass windows. It is worth a visit. I love old graves in churches
  • Went in here for first time. Was amazed at the size and beauty of this parish church. Did not know that Henry VIII's elder brother Arthur died in Ludlow and had his heart buried in the church.
  • Great centre for toddler groups, parties, and other occasions.
