Castle Tourist Spot
Constructed in the 11th century, Ludlow Castle, retains the spark of its former medieval glory. You can explore many parts of the castle, which has changed hands and owners throughout the centuries, on your own. Information at the site is lacking, so if you’re interested in the history of the place, be sure to read up in advance. But with preserved areas and a bit of imagination, you can envision how the castle might have been used in days of yore. Climb one of the towers to enjoy the view and take tea by the entrance to bring you back into the 21st century. Take a look at our Ludlow travel itinerary planner to schedule your visit to Ludlow Castle and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Great castle.. Helpful staff. Ticket reasonable and can be used all day so you can pop out for food and come back in later. Value for money. So rare these days
  • Great English castle. Mostly in ruins but still some stairs and plenty of exploring to do. The town of Ludlow is interesting too. You can spend a few hour here. Good for kids too.
  • Lovely town to wander around & finish off with the castle. With over 500 listed buildings & some great cafes & restaurants (very few main chain shops), you won't be disappointed.
  • Fantastic castle, interesting place to spend a couple of hours. Entrance fee is also very reasonable at only £5.
  • A must visit place, if you're coming to Ludlow. Fascinating for both the history and architectural development of the castle (well documented). There is a lovely tea-shop and separate museum shop. Best of all, if you can manage the spiral stone staircase up to the top of the tower, are the stunning views in all directions. The castle grounds also host the annual food festival marquees and associated events.
