Ludlow Castle, Ludlow

Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web
Constructed in the 11th century, Ludlow Castle, retains the spark of its former medieval glory. You can explore many parts of the castle, which has changed hands and owners throughout the centuries, on your own. Information at the site is lacking, so if you’re interested in the history of the place, be sure to read up in advance. But with preserved areas and a bit of imagination, you can envision how the castle might have been used in days of yore. Climb one of the towers to enjoy the view and take tea by the entrance to bring you back into the 21st century. • This is my third visit and my husband really liked it. It would have been nice to have had more information. We loved the top of the castle views overlooking Ludlow
  • A lovely castle, but would have been better if there had been more information in each area, rather than just a few notices.

  • We arrived late and was already closed. We walked around the castle = massive fortifications and the toilet! Part of the fortifications! Perfectly! We were here May 2, 2016
  • Beautiful ruined castle with excellent views from the ramparts. Hosts the spring and food festivals. Which is always a bonus. Very good non affiliated café in the grounds as well. Recommended
  • You should always support and help maintain your history, but i do feel that as there is very little of the Castle that perhaps either more should be offered or the price dropped a little. The views however from the tower is great on a clear day.
  • Great fun to explore. Very wet and muddy on the day we went and we were afraid of damaging the grasses area getting to parts of the castle. Recommended and good value.
  • Fantastic classic English ruined castle. You can go in and out of all the nooks and crannies, fab for exploring with the kids.
