  • The National Trust is working hard to encourage younger visitors, and Melford Hall fits the bill perfectly as a taster for children. Not too large, evidence that it is still a family home (the owners ...  more »

  • We've spent a very pleasant afternoon at Melford Hall today despite the rain. Very helpful and friendly volunteers and staff. Excellent food in the cafe. Such an interesting history and beautiful house and surroundings.
  • Really lovely Hall. Has a lovely story to tell and is lovely to see inside. The gardens are small but pretty, great for a family day out.
  • Well this is a nice place. Still a family home as well as being a National Trust place. The history whilst not as exciting as some, is still full of plot twists and dark days and the connection to Beatrix Potter makes for a great place to bring the kids (can they find Peter Rabbit?). Not many seem to take advantage of the walk through the grounds whichbis a shame as it affords some beautiful views of the house and of Long Melford. Visit the church whilst you're there too.
  • Have to say this is a truly beautiful place to visit, beautiful gardens to explore and a lot of interesting historical facts to find out about. Sadly the staff didn't make us feel very welcome, I felt like it was them & us and that I didn't belong there, quite offish and put a damper on our day out.
  • A wonderful period house surronded by beautiful countryside. Some where all the family can go. Even has one room set aside as a childrens play room.
