Whitehall Gardens, London

(4/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
One of London's great thoroughfares, Whitehall Gardens passes numerous prominent memorials and government buildings along its journey from Trafalgar Square to Chelsea. Named after the Palace of Whitehall, the residence of British monarchs until it burned down in 1698, the street visits, among other prominent sites, the broad neo-Baroque Old War Office Building and The Cenotaph, Britain's most prominent war memorial. Looking south from the latter, you'll notice the clocktower of Big Ben and the tower of Westminster Palace looming on the skyline. Put Whitehall Gardens and other London attractions into our London vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Runs from Parliament Square to Trafalgar Square. Packed full of historic and important government buildings. Downing Street sadly no longer accessible to the common man. Horse guards worth a look. Oft...  more »
  • Here is where the daily administrative power of the British Empire is situated. There are many governmental buildings here.  more »
  • The location is amazing, the Whitehall garden is beautiful along the River Thames. If you have only 1 hour to see this quarter, you have to come here. It is so close to Big Ben! A MUST!  more »

  • A classy pub that is usually more quiet than others, probably because it's quite hidden away. London prices but very comfortable. Great staff.
  • Went here with my partner after recommendation from Mr. Hyde and absolutely loved it. Great venue, friendly staff and good food.
  • Nice surprise for a downstreet pub, quiet, pleasant atmosphere, food- good, but no such a great variety, friendly staff and very clean bathrooms . I recommend !
  • For shame this place was a haven on Whitehall as it's set back 10 metres from the main road and seemingly immune to tourists. Sadly the refurb has left us with real ales now costing over a fiver and not much else. However, it is good for ambitious civil servants wanting to jabber nonsense at each other.
  • A great joint in the heart of touristy London that doesn't break the bank. Don't be fooled by the weird entrance, this place is well worth your currency.
