Vauxhall Bridge, London

#1181 of 3,305 in Things to do in London
Vauxhall Bridge holds special appeal for James Bond fans due to its views of MI6 headquarters, home of Britain's secret intelligence service. Even if you're not an enthusiast of the spy film franchise, you can still appreciate the bridge's Thames River scenery and its bronze sculptures, which represent the fields of agriculture, architecture, engineering, pottery, science, fine arts, local government, and education. The bridge also holds historical value, dating back to 1906 and being the first of its kind in London to hold tram tracks. • If getting from one side of the river to the other in the Vauxhall/Millbank area is your aim, then this is the bridge for you. You can walk it, cycle it and even drive it if you have a suitable vehicle. The cunning design keeps the river out of my shoes whilst it continues on its merry way. Good work Vauxhall Bridge keep it up!
  • Came here for new year's celebration. It was very cold and and very crowded. But had decent views considering it was free. It was chosen because the new year's celebration closer to the London eye was ticketed but expensive. I'd don't know if I'd come.thier again for for the celebration but walking across in an everyday scenario is more then fine.
  • The bridge needs a coat of paint. Good views. Sadly they want to demolish the excellent designed and user friendly Vauxhall bus station next to bridge. Amazing what the Lambeth council does for money.
  • A great bridge, perfect for crossing over a large and fast-flowing river
  • it is a life buoy, it seems it sends out a MOB(落水/Man overboard)signal when used. Life-belt container (flotation aid) is provided on the bridge. Similar life belts can be seen along many rivers in the UK. In some towns, kids seem to think it is clever to throw the safety devices into the river and watch them float away, so the life-belt will not be there when needed.
