Vauxhall Bridge, London

3.6
#1287 of 3,379 in Things to do in London
Vauxhall Bridge holds special appeal for James Bond fans due to its views of MI6 headquarters, home of Britain's secret intelligence service. Even if you're not an enthusiast of the spy film franchise, you can still appreciate the bridge's Thames River scenery and its bronze sculptures, which represent the fields of agriculture, architecture, engineering, pottery, science, fine arts, local government, and education. The bridge also holds historical value, dating back to 1906 and being the first of its kind in London to hold tram tracks. • Nice view of the Thames, the London Eye and the SIS building. This bridge also is outside the ticket area for the New Years' Fireworks, allowing you to view them for free!
  • I'm actually surprised I get to review a bridge. Anyways ... We went there to watch the Great River Race and it was a good spot. Santander cycles right nearby so that was convenient.
  • Large bridge with an amazing view on MI6
  • Nice view of the Thames

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
