Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.

  • This place has some fanatic views and is great on a nice day. Lots of options for food as well.
  • Great Cafe, rustic decor with relaxed atmosphere. Really nice in the summer without outside seating by the river. Staff are really friendly and the breakfast is the best in the area.
  • Not much happening here, or at least not on the day I went. The views of the O2 and Canary Wharf are nice though...
  • Beautiful place and has a lovely little cafe..I call this the hidden gem of the East End. There also a lovely view of the Thames and O2 from here...
  • Wonderfully quirky former Buoy making facility, now become an arts centre. Features a range of great places to eat, fascinating sculptures and London's only lighthouse! Great views over to the O2 as well. Let's itself down by spoiling it's own views with truly ugly office buildings. Hopefully they will get replaced by something more fitting.
