Tooting Bec Lido, London

(3.9/5 based on 35 reviews on the web)
Enjoy a bracing open-air swim at Tooting Bec Lido, among the largest swimming pools in the UK. An earthen ramp covered in bird-filled trees surrounds the 91.5 m (300 ft) by 30 m (99 ft) pool, forming a green and turquoise oasis in the midst of London's urban sprawl. After a refreshing swim in the unheated water, enjoy a bite to eat at the cafe, which offers a range of breakfast, lunch, and snack options, as well as hot and cold drinks. Put Tooting Bec Lido into our London itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • I visited the Lido on one of the hottest days of the year in September. I took the day off work to make sure it wasn't too busy, but unfortunately this wasn't the case! The place was very busy, so fin...  more »
  • I love the lido, I usually go out of peak times and sometimes you can have 50 metres of cool relaxing water to yourself! It's such good value and a great place to relax out of the water as well as in....  more »
  • A massive swimming pool with amazing outside space. Pool isn't heated but once you're moving its ok.

  • Fantastic outdoor swimming pool, said to be the largest in Europe. Unheated. Toddlers pool. Grass area. Cafe.
  • Great pool, best enjoyed in the hot weather as the water is quite nippy! Cafe could do with an upgrade & a decent coffee machine, but you can always bring your own picnic as there are benches and grass to sit on.
  • This is a spectacular 91M outdoor swimming pool. It can be a bit bracing in winter but during Spring and Autumn a lovely place to swim. Go really early and avoid the crowds as it's super busy on sunny days.
  • Great Lido for the summer days. However the place can be quite busy, the earlier you arrive the better. Also, bring cash!
  • I love it here, huge pool, nice little cafe, lots of space around the sides for sitting etc. The one downside is the amount of unattended children particularly at the deep end. I thought the pool had a rule for children under 8 to be supervised at all times and a maximum of two children per adult. This need to be enforced so the serious swimmers can have some peace.
