Nightlife · Bar / Club
The Punch Tavern is a Grade II listed public house at 98–100 Fleet Street, Holborn, London.
The pub previously on this site was called the Crown and Sugar Loaf, but was renamed as the Punch Tavern in the 1840s, as Punch magazine had its office nearby at that end of Fleet Street. It was rebuilt by the architects Saville and Martin in two phases, first the main part area of the pub and its Fleet Street frontage in 1894–95, and then its Bride Lane frontage with a "Luncheon Bar" behind in 1896–97.

  • What a place... One of the most characterful pubs in London with one of the most characterful governors in London. Riley and his staff made us extremely welcome with banter and laughs despite the odd....  more »
  • My team booked our Christmas party months ago and asked for a space in the private room at the back for 6.30. Upon arrival we were told we won’t be getting that room and they’d arrange a table in the....  more »
  • Love the fact this pub is SO dog friendly! We felt really welcome. Food was food, salad particularly fresh. Only problem was the darkness and lack of sound-absorbing material, so back of the pub was.....  more »

  • We were looking for somewhere to watch the football while visiting London. The manager was happy to put it on for us. We had lunch while watching the match, the fish and chips and steak and ale pie were excellent. I was looking for a gin to have and was recommended the Chase pink grapefruit which was lovely. Great pub!
  • The pub is very unique and the bar manager is a character. I did get annoyed when he called me lovely and just a few other things but he is great fun to mess with. Food was great. I really enjoyed the food but beer selection was poor. Would go back again, but only for the place as it looked great.
  • In town for the Buccaneers game and found this spot next to our hotel. Best fish and chips around, decent priced drinks, and the staff is fantastic. If you're looking for a fun server be sure and ask for Ewa.
  • I would give more stars if I could! Seriously best pub on Fleet St. The atmosphere was just right and if you're looking for friendly and helpful staff you are in the right place. Despite being really busy (apparently they have quiz nights on Tuesdays), Patricia wonderfully looked after us - tip: if you are a newbie on gins like me, ask her for a recommendation... you will not be let down! Extra tip: if you are just looking for a small bite, ask for the halloumi sticks or duck croquettes, they are delicious! I will definitely be back!!
  • Came here on a pub tour and had an incredible time. Gin selection was huge, and the owner personally told us about all his favorite types. Such a happy guy, and was so nice for him to take so much time to talk to us.
