The current Head Teacher of the school is Annie Gammon, who succeeded Mark Emmerson in March 2008.In the 2007 report produced by the Office for Standards in Education, Stoke Newington School was described as "an outstanding school with a culture of high expectations" and that "close attention to making sure that all students do as well as they possibly can characterises the school's leadership and management at all levels". Stoke Newington School has a sixth form which was launched in September 2006.Major renovation of the school under the 'Building Schools for the Future' programme was completed in 2010. Willmott Dixon was the main contractor undertaking the new building and refurbishment of the school. Their appointed architect was Jestico + Whiles who won the RIBA May 2011 award for their work on the school.

  • Limited menu choice so decided on a couple of drinks. Lovely weather, pity about the traffic and smoker next to our table. Our drinks were supplied with a friendly waiter smile. Payment by me in cash;...  more »
  • A neighbourhood in the city of London, not far from the city centre, where it abounds with restaurants and pubs. Also the ability to listen to different types of music. Good hotel, including Premier Inn, where you really are well taken care of by the staff.

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
