  • For people who travel a lot, or want to meet any location on the planet this is the bookstore, which in my opinion is the most complete in the world, in this sector. Books and tourist guides, there are found in addition to maps, travel accessories, and many other things concerning the theme, such as Globes, charts etc. In the back of the store is om small café, with several drinks, snacks and sweets.

  • I always visit Stanfords when I visit London. There are so many great books and nik-naks for young and old. It specialises in travel books and maps which are very interesting. It is really convenientl...  more »
  • This is probably the best place in London to come to stock up on travel books and maps prior to a trip somewhere. Very extensive collection spanning pretty much anywhere you might be interested in vis...  more »

  • It used to be truly superb and I can't explain exactly what changed but it's a notch down. You can still find maps and guides on every location you'd ever need, but a little spark from the past is missing somehow. Still my go-to for travel needs, but now I don't want to spend hours there dreaming up my next destination.
  • Before planning a trip, go to this bookshop and get all you need - from maps to guidebooks, and all sorts of items you might want. Perfect one-stop shop for travelers and holidaymakers, which deserves to be supported from the competition of online retailers.
  • For anyone with wanderlust this is the place for you! Between my maps/books for Canada and Ghana, Afghanistan and Kurdistan, and many others in between, this is the place of dreams. The London map on the floor of the basement continues to impress and the choice of maps to order on the top floor is a cartographers dream
  • Stanfords is like a heaven for me - I really love it. Travel items, maps, gifts, all under one roof. What more could you ask for? You totally deserve this one. 5 out of 5
  • Simply the best. The shop has in fact improved over the 30 years I have been buying maps here, without equal and to be cherished.Long may it last.
