  • There are admission for the event, as it was located right next to my hotel. Is a small and attractive property which medieval church with a beautiful garden outside, with some bench on which to relax.

  • The history of the Church of St Olave's is interesting, its construction dates from the year 1000 approx., and is one of the most ancient of London as is except for the great fire of 1666. On one of their entrance gates you can see a few skulls that are mentioned by Dickens. It should take into account that it is closed during the month of August.

  • Well worth a visit. Samuel Pepys worshiped here, and had his Navy office across the road. There are many old pieces inside which survived the bombs of WW2.

  • A church rich in history, built on the site of an ancient battle. Graveyard to spies, plague victims and Mother Goose. Samuel Pepys' own church. Ask if you can go down into the crypt!
  • Hidden little gem of a church. Known for the skulls atop its gate entrance.
  • Saint Ghastly Grim In The Uncommercial Traveller, Charles Dickens nicknames the churchyard of St Olave Saint Ghastly Grim: “It is a small churchyard, with a ferocious strong spiked iron gate, like a jail. This gate is ornamented with skulls and cross-bones, larger than life, wrought in stone; but it likewise came into the mind of Saint Ghastly Grim, that to stick iron spikes a-top of the stone skulls, as though they were impaled, would be a pleasant device. Therefore the skulls grin aloft horribly, thrust through and through with iron spears.” The stone skulls are still there, grinning down on passers-by and sending a shiver down the spines of those unfortunate souls who – walking this quiet City street at night – chance upon them for the first time. Where? St Olave, Hart Street EC3R 7NB. Find St Olave on Google Maps.
  • Another of these well hidden churches of City. Its interior is pretty old, you can easily bet you're in an isolated English village while in there. Its gardens are also pretty
  • A favorite spot, just to be....
