St. James's Park is one of the most pleasurable green spaces in London. The oldest of the city's royal parks, it offers 23 hectares (57 acres) of lawns, trees, and playgrounds around a pond. Take a stroll down the queen's ceremonial route from Buckingham Palace, spot the palace and the London Eye from the Blue Bridge, and enjoy a waterside meal at Inn the Park while spotting ducks, geese, swans, and even pelicans. While in the park, keep an eye out for some of the plaques along the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk. This 11 km (7 mi) route past buildings and locations related to the princess goes through this park, as well as Green Park, Hyde Park, and Kensington Gardens. A visit to St. James's Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our London travel route builder website to plot your vacation.

  • Lovely park near Buckingham Palace, a nice way to relax in the never sleeping London. Very "groomed", it houses birds and squirrels and ducks and yeah, a lot of animals in general. There's a large bar with park view offering beverages and snacks. They do also offer a lunch menu. Coffee was good and toilet was very clean. A nice break overall.
  • Such a very beautiful place. I love these gardens!! So many gorgeous areas to walk, sit and explore. The tropical greenhouse is my favorite place to be. The membership is well worth it. Great spring plant sale also
  • Spend some time strolling through the park, sitting by the lake or feeding the birds and squirrels. Look out for the wild parakeets, they will feed from your hand if you're calm and quiet. The squirrels will climb up you to get to the food, before running off to bury their reward. One of the best places in London to relax, right in the middle but a patch of green wonder.
  • Wonderful gardens and lake with plenty of wildlife...in central London..you can easily walk to Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Trafalgar Square from here. Magnificent trees, especially London Plane...sit, relax enjoy the sunshine...cafes and ice cream stands around park. Restrooms towards Trafalgar off Mall. Always a buzz people from all over world walking about enjoying the London scene in Park.
  • This is a wonderful public park located between Parliament, the Horse Guards and Buckingham Palace. The gardens are well maintained and offer beautiful views of the palace across the lake. At the park end closest to the Horse Guards you can see the parade and change - great stuff. Much more interesting than the tourist show at the palace
