  • Grade I Listed and much rebuilt over 2000 years with the renowned surviving steeple attributed to Nicholas Hawksmoor and steeped in associations with the printing industry.. though in time, but a fleet-ing moment. A museum, mosaics and sombre charnel remnants in the excavated crypt add a mindful and mournful note. An active church with a spacious interior and a busy floor.
  • Phoenix of two thousand years with the highest Wren steeple. Legacy of greats like Milton Johnson Dickens. Peppys. Crypt museum on history. Great visit. Museum visit also free.
  • A stunning old church in the centre of London. Over 2000 years of history, redesigned by Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London. Make sure you take the time to go downstairs where you can see history back to the Romans. The many tiers of the spire are meant to have inspired the current wedding cake style.
  • It's where Jerry Hall was (last) married.
  • The spire of this church is what inspired the tiered wedding cake and it is a local landmark that is both striking and lovely. The church interior is bright and roomy and is a lovely place to sit and contemplate for a few quiet moments. However, the treasure of the church is undoubtedly its wonderful crypt, much of which only came to light after bomb damage in the second World War. You can view the meagre remains of buildings on the site going right back to Roman times. I am particularly fond the iron coffin that is on display in a side section of the crypt. Would I make a special journey to visit it.. probably not. However, if you;re in the City and have 45 or so minutes to spare then it most certainly warrants a vis

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
