Sherlock Holmes Museum, London

3.2
#27 of 254 in Museums in London
At Sherlock Holmes Museum, see the home where the famous fictional detective and his assistant Dr. Watson lived. The interior of the Georgian townhouse appears just as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle described it in his Victorian-era stories. Pose for a photo in Holmes's fireside armchair in the study overlooking Baker Street, view the detective's private belongings and papers in his bedroom, and check out the wax models of characters on the third floor. The museum's address is 221B Baker Street, just as it was in the books, but it's actually located between 237 and 241 on the street. • I've wanted to see him for years, but I have to say he let me down a little bit. Arranged on 2 floors, small and with many people. The cost for what you see is a bit high... 15th. However who cares, you have to pay the ticket inside the shop and then queue to enter

  • Just to see The 221B Gate of Baker Street would already be worth it to delight Sherlock lovers.

  • It is an expensive very small kind of museum that you spend around 15 minutes but it is well preserved and nice atmosphere. Only if you are a true fan should go otherwise it is a waste of time for jus...  more »

  • If you are a big Sherlock Holmes fan it is worth the effort to go. It is an attempt at creating what Arthur Conan Doyle describes in his stories. It is pretty good. It is furnished with Victorian antiques but it is small and has Sherlock’s study and bedroom then rooms for Mrs Watson and Dr. Watson. Some rooms have very good wax statues of Holmes and key people from some of the stories. The tour probably takes less than 30 min.
  • Had a great time! 15 people go in at a time. 3 floors to look through and a gift shop. First floor is guided, the rest are yours to explore .£15 per adult. Everyone is in period costumes and there's a proper shop attached with great souvenirs. A deerstalker hat is about £49. You know you'd look good in one.
  • Place is good for kids Those who heard of Sherlock Holmes stories Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John H. Watson The world famous consulting detective Sherlock Holmes lived at 221b Baker Street between 1881-1904, according to the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Mr Holmes shared his rooms with his loyal friend and colleague Dr Watson and the house is protected by the government due to its "special architectural and historical interest." The 1st floor study overlooking Baker Street is faithfully maintained for posterity and just as it was kept by Mrs Hudson in Victorian Times! Step back in time and visit The World's Most Famous Address - 221b Baker Street - the Official Home of Sherlock Holmes!
  • A must for every Sherlock Holmes fan! The attention to detail of the decor in this tiny house really creates the atmosphere of what it must have been like in those days! And the gift shop as fun stuff not cheap plastic stuff. Very recommended for true fans. ♡♡♡
  • We wanted to visit this pseudo historical museum apartment. We asked a young lady dressed like a maid for how long is it usual. She said that she could not say for sure, but every 10 minutes, 15 people go in. We remained standing. After that, she began to approach us and insist on buying a ticket. It was two times. We politely replied that we will buy at the entrance and not in a hurry. At the next moment of persistence she said that until we buy tickets, she will let all go forward and we will always be at the end of the line. Hearing this, we of course left the line. Such an attitude towards people is unacceptable !!! We sincerely make this place as few customers as possible with such staff. Disgusting: ((((
