  • Went to my brothers funeral here. He was a Chelsea pensioner. The place is fabulous. Great if you are visiting London to have a walk around the grounds. Hospitality is second to none. Nothing to much ...  more »
  • A relatively unknown point of interest in the Chelsea neighborhood of London is the Royal Hospital of Chelsea. A retirement home for former soldiers (similar to the Hotel des Invalides in Paris). It is a collection of beautiful buildings with a beautiful chapel in the main building, designed by the famous architect Sir Christopher Wren with beautiful paintings. On site there is a cafe with terrace where you can drink tea with a pastry. On the grounds are also the beautiful Ranelagh Gardens. The friendly people, the so-called Chelsea Pensioners with their characteristic Scarlet red jackets and enter, organize tours on site. There is also a good souvenir shop.

  • A real honour to visit the old soldiers as always. RHC is steeped in history, with astounding buildings and historical items. Fantastic!
  • I had the pleasure of attending an awards event here, and what a wonderful place! Fully accessible for any disability with extremely helpful people on hand to make sure you get to where you're going. Stunning buildings, art, architecture and furnishings. We had a wonderful evening!
  • The Royal Chelsea Hospital has enormous history behind it, very famous and is the home to the Chelsea Pensioners who are veterans of the British Army which adds to the history of Chelsea and dates back to 1682. The 66-acre site is well worth a visit and is also the venue for the Chelsea Flower Show in May. It is a beautiful architectural legacy left to us by Charles ll and Sir Christopher Wren.
  • The cafe inside is well worth a visit set in the grounds it great for a quiet coffee.

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
