  • Visited today, 25th October. The 23.5 million pounds refurbishment has made a significant difference. Accessible, modern and family friendly. The variety of engaging and interactive and multi-media displays really help to keep your attention. Educational and reflective. A must visit for everyone who truly appreciates the courage and dedication of those men and women who fought/fight in the armed forces, for our freedom.
  • Engaging displays on the history of the British Army with interactive exhibits. The museum does a great job bringing together the history of the army as whole, across all the regiments and corps, telling the story of its role in key events in British, European and world history. There's a fascinating section on the relationship between the army and society. Great cafeteria and soft play for children as well.
  • When: Sunday 2pm in Autumn 2017 High level: Lots to read about the British Army, 3 levels, some temporary expo, spacious, newly renovated. Crowd level: Very low (empty) Pros: You like to read about the life of British soldiers, statistics, the battles, the medium used to depict war, interactive (dress up, shooting games, tank warfare, puzzles, cinema, drumming), handy seats though out. Cons: limited historical artefacts, poor use of the museum space (given the size of the museum, the exhibits were far apart so there was more walking and lots of empty spaces)
  • I frequent the play Base amd cafe both of which I highly recommend. The play Base is clean, well maintained and has limited number of people at any given time. The cafe serves delicious food for kids and adults.
  • This is a new museum and is spacious. Yet, it lacks character and more so, doesn't seem to have a story running through it. I was expecting something like the IWM but focusing on the army aspect of war. I may visit again but is not high on that list.

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
