  • Lower Marsh is a surprising find literally a stone's throw from the rear of Waterloo Station. It is not a long road but has loads of quirky and often unique independent traders selling high quality go...  more »
  • This was my second visit to Lower Marsh Market on a Thursday lunchtime, and once again I was delighted by the amazing and diverse street food stalls, today I opted for traditional Nigerian food where ...  more »
  • Historic place. Great for food from different cultures. Noted for tourists, workers and City dwellers.
  • It's a lovely little food market with lots of variety from different countries. Definitely recommend as a lunch option
  • Great food market, with lots of choice. The falafel stall is a favourite, with a basic starting at £3.50. The staff are great too. Other stalls are more around the £5-6 mark, which for me is more of a monthly treat! There are some other stalls with other items but the food is the main draw. The two fruit stands are a little reduced in choice compared with other markets but still ok.
  • When I first knew this market it was full of fresh fruit and cheap clothes, but now it's had a makeover which we be going on for a few years to come. Gone is the decrepit 'Steve's bed & breakfast' to make way for a smart hotel. The independently run small shops are being shut down to make way for bigger things. One fascinating shop is where railway enthusiasts buy specialist books on rails and the war, and parts for their model railways. The quiet road is lined on one side at lunch times with bright stalls selling mainly food from many parts of the world. There's La Barca, an Italian restaurant at the end closest to the Old Vic theatre and Cubana, from guess where? They're both well established and popular. But we hear that the ownership of Cubana is being taken over and don't know what the outcome is. Lower Marsh looks a bit run down at the moment, but it's in the process of regeneration so we have to look forward to the future.
  • Very good food! Great place to go for lunch and great people.
