Visited the Velodrome, first time since the Olympics. Great venue, nice little café inside by the seating area, supping tea whilst cyclists thumping around the steeply banked track. I feel that the ta... read more »
My wife bought me a track taster session and it is well worth gift to give. Although I was slightly apprehensive due to the fact that all bikes are fixed wheel the session went well. The staff are pro... read more »
Gift for the Velodrome taster session. Thoroughly enjoyed it. After initial introduction to track rules and safety. We were let loose to race around the track. All abilities there. Finished all too so... read more »
This was the best afternoon I've had in a while. Went for the level one accreditation course. One hour of roaring round the velodrome on a track bike. Great instruction and patience from the coach. If you've not ridden track before do the taster as the accreditation can be right in the deep end for some. What a fantastic facility though, if you can hang about and see a track meet if on, the speeds are amazing!!
The VeloPark situated in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford is a legacy from the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The Velo is a purpose built indoor and outdoor cycling track open to the public with very good facilities. Also a viewing gallery and coffee shop for visitors. There is an outside road and off road track as well as BMX circuit. They are also doing sessions for young kids to get into cycling so visit the website and book a course. The Olympic Park also has a lot more to offer so make a day of your visit.
This is , clearly, a world class facility which is not used as much as it could be by the locals. Get down for some BMX riding, go around the road track, do the mountain bike trails. Inside there's the track and spin studio. For little ones there are sessions for them to learn to ride, and improve riding. It really is for all abilities. You don't have to be an aspiring Chris or Bradley.
This is the place to visit if you love cycling, I did a track session in the velodrome. It was pretty cool riding around the Olympic track knowing who's also ridden it. The staff were really knowledgeable and courteous, we had good bikes and I came away realising how hard track racing is! If I lived near I'd always be doing laps on the road track, great to get a ride in without worrying about traffic.
Great for watching cycling and for participating. Sign up for a class to get to ride on the boards yourself! It's reasonably priced and they will hire you a bike and shoes.
