Kings Cross Pond Club, London

4.5
#6 of 10 in Nature in London
Water Body Boat Tour
Experience an invigorating open-air dip in the heart of London at Kings Cross Pond Club. The freshwater, chemical-free, unheated pool gets quite chilly in the cool English climate, but after a little acclimatization, most visitors find the water quite refreshing. After swimming lengths in the 40 m (131 ft) bean-shaped pool lined with reeds and plants, relax on a poolside sun lounger, or ascend the viewing platform to admire the green oasis surrounded by modern developments and construction sites. Swimming sessions must be booked in advance via the pool's website. Make Kings Cross Pond Club a part of your London vacation plans using our London trip builder.

  • Visited last year and loved this place. It is a little oasis of swimming and relaxation gorgeousness in the middle of London - very surreal and very lovely. I also joined in the 'splash mob' swim to s...  more »

  • I wish they'd never close it ! Great place to take a cold water plunge and then head next to the cafe for a warm brew and a cupcake. Place has changing facilities and is free, better to pre-book it to avoid disappointment as they only let 10 or so people at a time.
  • This was great little urban swimming hole while it lasted. Pity they couldn't keep it going.
  • Nice. A little empty sometimes. But with enough people there's a great community feel. Sad to say good bye but it was always meant to be temporary.
  • Great place to cool down on a hot summer day. However you need to book online a few days in advance as capacity is limited, which makes it very pleasant because it is never crowded.
  • Looks rather small, but barely got busy as people seemed disinclined to hang around in the water (20degrees that day) as such it was a good place to swim. Environment around the pond was clean and well managed. All the construction work going on around was interesting to see, but if you're looking for tranquillity, you need to look elsewhere.

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
