Horse Guards Building, London
(4.1/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Home to gorgeous equines and stately guards, Horse Guards Building serves as the perfect spot to soak up some English pomp and royal history. The 17th-century Palladian-style structure marks the formal entrance to St. James' Palace, and only the country's monarch or those with a special pass can drive through its central archway. Stoic guards atop their horses keep watch at the entrance, providing one of London's best photo opportunities. If you're lucky, you may get to see the changing of the guards on the adjoining parade ground. Inside the structure is, appropriately, the Household Cavalry Museum.
