Harrods, London

2.3
#1494 of 3,357 in Things to do in London
Harrods is the jewel in England's retail crown. From a humble ground-floor grocery store founded by Charles Harrod in 1849, Harrods has evolved into a sparkling seven-storey wonderland.

  • Lovely place to just look around even if you don't plan on buying anything. I could easily spend hours in here. The place is beautifully set up and everything invites you to look at it. The employees are kind and helpful and will answer any query as best as possible even if they know you are not planning on buying anything from their store. The place is easy to navigate with labels around indicating which section you will enter, and I must note that the escalators are beautiful. The atmosphere is nice as it is never too crowded since the area is large.
  • The quintessential luxury mall, and probably one of the best ones in the world. Plenty of options inside, with all major brands being present, personal shopping services, and even a loyalty program with rewards. Prices are pretty expensive, but that's to be expected. The food court is really good, both in terms of quality and variety of options presented. Great for lunch or an afternoon snack.
  • To whom it may concern, I visited Harrods on the 1st December 2017 with the intention of purchasing a gift. Within seconds, I was immediately served by a lovely consultant named Natalia in the Adidas department. She spent her time accessing my needs and ideas for this gift, she even added a personal anecdote to help me decide what to purchase in the end which, I thought added an exceptional delivery of customer service. Her knowledge surrounding products was excellent and her patience was memeorbable. What stood out to me the most was her attention to detail in delivering a personal experience for me. I suggest the retrospective line manager in charge ought to give her a paid day off for all her hard work. Thank you for demonstrating how powerful the Harrods brand is with your exceptional service. I will certainly be back for more purchases and, will highly recommend, this store to my close family and friends.
  • It's what you expect and prices are, likewise, as you would expect. That said there is great fun and enjoyment to be had simply wandering around fairly aimlessly and taking in the goods and the products in each section, while you might never buy a £1,000 cheese it is interesting to see what one looks like. In particular the drinks section that carries both shiv and soft drinks has a fascinating amount of variety. You can spend hours taking it all in and hopefully, if you're careful, your wallet won't take a hit at the same time
  • The worst shopping experience ever, my family and I trying to buy some good at Harrods in our last day in London that why we were carry a small trolley, very rudely they told us that we were not allow to entry with any luggage and direct us to a place to keep them, after we found the place we found us that we have to pay $25pound for each trolley X4people =$100 pound JUST TO KEEP THE LUGGAGE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT ALLOW. CRAZY!!! We were there ready to purchase luxury good, I was definitely not expecting this poor service and rude manners to treat us. I WILL DEFINITELY NOT COME BACK NEVER EVER.

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
