Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.

  • Beautiful place far away from London to view all of the centre, but close enough to see it 😍 from Parliament Hill. The northern parts are more untamed, but not really wild. Great for trail running and jogging and also just walking around. Take care to read the special bylaws on the homepage.
  • What's not to like - a huge space, easily accessible on public transport in London. It is wilder than other parks and it really does feel like you are in the countryside. It isn't particularly easy terrain. A lot of rough paths, but it does have more manicured parts. If you're heading off and one of your party has mobility issues, you might want to research your route. A nice antidote to the city - but if you start getting twitchy in all that fresh air, pubs, shops and cafes are in easy reach.
  • Lovely place for a picnic or just for a walk. We used to live in North London literally minutes away from Hampstead Heath and loved to have some nice and relaxing time in the park. Still going there from time to time but not so often as we moved in a different area.
  • Great place to get away from it all on a weekday. Pretty crowded on weekends. Great for dog owners and open water swimmers. The view from Parliament Hill is worth the climb
  • Love ,love this park! Just minutes of ride on the overground then you're here. It makes me feel like I'm at the countryside, not London at all! For people who like swimming, you can even swim in the open pounds.
