  • Georgian Merchants house in Hampstead. Its a lovely house and garden but there are hardly any explanatory notices to put all the contents into context. There is lots of 18th century porcelain, and a collection of harpsichords and spinets
  • Set in a very quiet part of London, offering a piece of British history. The staff were knowledgeable about the houses history and it's owners. Lots of historical musical instruments and we were lucky to hear one being played.
  • I am a National Trust member and houses with a garden like this make my membership so worthwhile. The floors are manned by volunteers who are so helpful and knowledgable. When I visited there was an elderly chap on the Ground floor who was a fount of knowledge and so friendly and helpful. The garden is a joyful place to wander round and loved the orchard and the small greenhouse. Walled gardens are just such brilliant places go grow healthy and vibrant plants, the garden is kept in really nice condition. Fenton House is a must visit place which I hope people do in numbers as this is somewhere I am going to visit whenever I get time. Highly recommended
  • We went to the Fenton house for the Easter egg hunt with our kids. They loved walking around in the lovely garden hunting for clues. If you happen to be in London during Easter, I can highly recommend the egg hunt, but be on time, since they only let in a limited number of people at a time. Fortunately, we made it to the first time slot. The garden is very beautiful and calm. We didn't have much time to look through the house itself, but it is well worth the visit. Fenton house is easy to find from the tube station.
  • Very unusual house with over 28 pianos, harpsicords and amazing collection of Miessen figures plus a lovely garden.

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
