  • Tons of bouldering, lead and top roped walls, auto-belay and outdoor boulders. The best gym in London and the best I've been to anywhere!

  • This is by far my favorite place in London! I often spend hours there climbing, relaxing in the garden or trying their great food. A friend of mine recommended it to me so I registered on their website for bouldering and went along to have a look at the place. My initial thought was that it was very busy, which it does get during most weekday evenings. However, I found that the place is so big, with different floors and areas that you'll always find somewhere to climb. Having climbed regularly many years ago, I signed up to one of their introductory classes to refresh my knowledge. We had a great teacher, who explained everything we needed to know very clearly and gave us loads of good tips. Even though I knew most of the basics, it was never boring and since there were only 6 people in the class, we go loads of individual feedback. We did a lot of climbing during the class where we were talked through some of the techniques. I return regularly, sometimes, several times per week. Since there are so many areas and walls and they change the routes frequently, it never gets boring and there is always something new to check out. On top of that, they have everything there you need to spend a whole day there: changing rooms, showers, caffee, gym, garden to relax etc. Most importantly, there is a nice vibe in the centre. The staff are very friendly and helpful, a lot of their food is made from ingredients from their garden and dogs are allowed into the centre!
  • Great place for bouldering and top roping! Interesting routes and an outdoor area, and the price is reasonable. However, the showers (lady's) are filthy and would be a deal breaker if I wanted to come here more often. It'd be so easy and cheap to at least replace the nasty shower curtains. A complete makeover would be more appropriate, though.
  • Perhaps the best climbing facility in London. The Castle offers a plethora of obstacles for rope and free climbing alike! You could climb here for days and still not run out of options. Enjoy bouldering? The Castle houses enough routes to get you going, as well as keep you challenged, no matter your skill. Fancy a bit of top-rope? They have you covered, in spades. Not a fan of humans and instead want to prepare for the inevitable by getting in on the ground floor with our robot overlords? You'll find a selection of auto-belays to get you back down the wall, minus the hassle of human interaction/error. It may be a little pricier than other climbing gyms, but you certainly get what you pay for. On site can be found a café, complete with artisanal food options, many of the ingredients sourced from the Castle's own back garden. The garden will also lead you to an array of outdoor volumes, which are fantastic destinations on sunny days.
  • My favorite climbing spot in London. I believe this is also the largest. It's an old Victoria waterworks that has been converted wonderfully. You'll find top roping, bouldering, traverse walls and the brilliant bouldering ladder where you work your way from 1-30, each slightly harder than the last. In summer the huge grounds has a BBQ and outdoor bouldering. Everything is organic food wise.
  • The food is amazing, all vegetarian and homemade. However, the climbing is not as great. There are less and less routes for lead climbing and the level is quite low. I go here when I want to have a chill climbing day and because I like the vibe (and the food!)
