Canary Wharf Tower, London
(3.7/5 based on 20+ reviews on the web)
One Canada Square is a skyscraper in Canary Wharf, London. It was the tallest building in the United Kingdom from 1990 to 2010, standing at 770ft above ground level and containing 50 storeys. In late 2010, it was surpassed by The Shard (completed in July 2012) which stands at 309.6m.One Canada Square was designed by principal architect Cesar Pelli, who based the design and shape mainly on the World Financial Center and the shape of Elizabeth Tower although the developers' (Olympia and York) previous flagship projects, First Canadian Place in Toronto and the Aon Center (formerly the Amoco building) in Chicago are earlier precedents of the building shape and plan form. Unlike the precedents named, the building is clad with durable stainless steel rather than natural stone (which failed prematurely, requiring expensive repairs in several). One of the predominant features of the building is the pyramid roof which contains a flashing aircraft warning light, a rare feature for buildings in the United Kingdom. The distinctive pyramid pinnacle is at 800ft above sea level. One Canada Square is primarily used for offices, though there are some retail units on the lower ground floor. It is a prestigious location for offices and as of November 2015 was 100% let. The building is recognised as a London landmark and it has gained much attention through film, television and other media when its status was the tallest building in the United Kingdom and continues to gain attention.

  • Maybe from outside it is not something special but from above the views are impressive. You can see the whole London city. Amazing.

  • The location of the hotel was within the vicinity of the place where I'm working and to the underground station. The place is peaceful and quiet which gives you a more relaxing ambiance. The receptionists were accommodating to my needs and are very hospitable. The quality of the rooms, toilet, sheets, cabinets, kitchen and everything are commendable and was beyond my expectations. Overall, my stay was a good one and would recommend this to travelers most especially the ones that are travelling in a group/family.
  • - Friendly welcome - Really high quality apartment - and very clean - Good facilities - Liked the welcome pack e.g. milk and cereals - Much much better value than a hotel - Would definitely stay here again
  • Very comfortable service apartments. Esp their concierge, they are really good and very approachable.
  • We had a fantastic time in the apartment and were upgraded to the penthouse suite. Very clean and spacious and with 3 bathrooms and 2 magnificent bedrooms with wrap around balconies and a spectacular view of London we loved our stay and will return! Highly recommended - easy for use of DLR, close to Tescos and Pret for morning coffee although milk and cereal was provided in apartment. The hot water was not working on arrival but this issue was resolved quickly by the concierge. FABULOUS suite - wish we had booked for a few more nights!!
  • Massive, lovely space, great price. Can't go wrong
