Trip Planner:   Europe  /  UK  /  England  /  London  /  Camden Market

Camden Market, London

With hundreds of stalls selling clothing, crafts, and food, Camden Market is one of Europe's largest markets. The nexus of one of London's most offbeat neighborhoods, the market joins together a series of smaller markets. Start in Camden Lock Market, the one that helped give rise to the others. Here you'll find music, films, books, crafts, and unusual gift items. Head to Camden Stables Market for vintage clothing and antiques. Most of the markets contain food stalls, but go to Inverness Street for fresh produce and continental-style restaurants. Sunday is the busiest day here, and the Camden tube stop restricts inbound service in the afternoon to help manage the crowds. You'll find fewer people--but also fewer open stalls--on weekdays. • Lots of quirky coolness still alive and well. There's no arguing that it's become a bit touristy over the years, with more and more tat for sale. But there's still plenty of great stuff on offer, as well as tasty street food. Definitely a worthwhile visit every once in a while. Maybe avoid weekends if you don't want to feel like a sardine.
  • They have various ranges of product. Everything looks so stylish! So many food stalls which I can't decide. This is one of the best markets I've visited. I'm not sure I just couldn't see but it was kinda hard to find restrooms
  • Much nicer in the week when it's less busy. Shame some of the older cafes have closed. Lot of building work going on around the site of one of the old markets. Worth taking cash if you want food from the many amazing food vendors in the main market as most don't take cards and the machines near by charge
  • Great place if you want to get a quick and cheap bite to eat. Full of street food style vendors. In fact they recently renovated the street food booths and added even more booths so you have even more choices. I would say there is probably close to 30 different vendors here. If you are in London, it's a must visit destination not just for the food but also for the market.
  • Camden lock is a vibrant, fun, big local attraction site for tourists and regular people who live in Camden. The canal is beautiful to walk along or go for a stroll, the food stalls are great. Mecca Bingo on Arlington Road and all the bars that are open make it a ideal place to go out for the night and make it fun. It is a popular and great location also more popular than west End, that's in my view. I love Camden lock market because it brings out all the inspiration globally also a set back to memories of London. A unique place to visit

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
