Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.

  • I daresay this is more for the straightforward food shopper than for the food market lingerer. You don’t come here to soak up the atmosphere a la Street Feast etc You can pick up fresh produce of all ...  more »
  • Really expensive organic produce on 4 or 5 stalls, cheese, vac packed meat (not refrigerated), fish, bread - all of which can be found at better prices and with a greater selection in nearby shops (So...  more »
  • Brilliant market but expensive which is why I only gave it 4*. There is a lovely choice of fresh meat, vegetables and some cooked food. There is a lot of organic food which explains the high prices. A...  more »

  • Adore heading here over the weekend. There is a decent selection of food and the coffee is great. The sunshine made it all the better!
  • I've been going to Brockley market for a good few years now (since 2012/13). Vegan cake stall is excellent; go for the cake and juice combo. Coffee stall is great. For burgers, Mother Flipper wins, but then I'd go so far as to say there are sometimes too many burger stalls. Buttermilk chicken and Korean hot sauce stall is great, as is Mike and Ollie's flatbreads. And the burrito van. In fact, it's all good, veg stalls included. I keep meaning to buy a cockerel from the poulterer. But never have. When it's sunny, expect to queue at most of these!
  • Excellent market, look out for Vadasz Deli, love their pickles especially the 'hot roots'.
  • Overpriced and not very nice produce. Give me Borough market any day. Full of people happy to get ripped off!
  • Fresh organic produce meat and fish although some things are a bit pricey.
