Berry Bros. & Rudd, London

(4/5 based on 60+ reviews on the web)
"If you penetrate behind the famous shop front at 3 St James's Street you find that Berry Bros. are a firm of surprising contrasts. The list of their clientele since 1698 reads like the index to a politico-social history of England: yet, today any number of regular customers drop in and take away a bottle or two in a carrier bag. Moreover they receive as warm a welcome as a millionaire restocking his cellar"

  • I popped in to BERRY BROS. & RUDD for the first time last week as I was looking for a gift. Knowing that I wanted a bottle of Malbec I asked for their selection, hmmmm only three varieties. One, their...  more »
  • This store provides wines and alcoholic beverages for the Royal family about 300 years. That's right: 300 years! Make your own gin (considered by some a bartender in Europe as the best in the world) since the beginning of the 16th century, the Number 3. This number is in reference to the address of the store, Saint James, nu. 3. The store itself, in addition to a generous collection of malts, has an extensive offer of French wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux region, produced by maisons selected and bottled for them soon with the prestigious label "Barry, Bros & Rudd", guarantee of origin to a high standard of the British Royal House. In addition, the property itself looks old-movie scenario actually could be. Be sure to visit the alley outside, with a nice square and the service entrance of the original store. Wait prices equivalent to quality offered.

  • The wine is amazing and that is the raison d'etre of this place. But the attraction is certainly for those with a small fortune to spend. Food wise, you mostly can't dispute the quality but it was lac...  more »

  • A great selection of wine, really great actually. You can find very good wines that are not so expensive. Also can order online and pick the order from the store. Quick collection and helpful staff.
  • We attended a company wine tasting here and absolutely enjoyed the experience . I also returned weeks later to purchase a few bottles of wine and received decent service.
  • We were invited to a dinner party that was in their private dining room. The wine, food and the service - excellent. The sommelier knew a lot about the history of Berry Brothers and the wines that were served.
  • Superb whiskey advice and worth a visit just for the armosphere! We had the pleasure of being attended to by Francis, who turned out to be the shop manager. He dedicated his time and his expertise to us, and we found the perfect whiskey from the shop's own selection. The shop itself is a piece of olde London and the atmosphere feels like something from Harry Potter novels.
  • Turns up at 6.05 as it said it was open on website till 9pm and they told me I could not go in to risky room as private function. I had walked 20 mins to get there. They could have put this on the web!!!!
