It was OK. Waterfall is great. The walk to the top is great for adults but wouldn't recommend for old people or pushchairs more »
Visited on way home from a weeks holiday in Wales. Waterfall was disappointing, not as impressive as we expected and the path up to the top was closed. £4 for parking then had to pay 20p each to use t... more »
What a beautiful place to visit. My fiancé & I with 2 dogs walked to the top if your unfit it would be a bit of a climb but well worth it. Looking from the bottom upwards is breathtaking. There is a p... more »
Have been today to take my second look at this beautiful waterfall after a 10 year break, and could not wait. What a total disappointment it has been for our family as it was all overgrown and fenced off. You could once see the waterfall in all its glory but now it is surrounded by trees (overgrown) so no longer possible unless you stand at the bottom, or hike it up to the top. you were also once able to walk down the river and even paddle but this is also a restricted area. The gentleman with the grey hair and beard could not wait for us to get out of our vehicle, before waiving the ticket and requesting £4.00 to park there, (no wonder so many had parked down the lane). It was 20p to use the toilets as the gentleman informed me, "the local authority have to charge this" he informed me ....as he took the £4.00 to park on an almost empty field, "they have to charge this " he informed me as we could not afford it !!!! . To say that the waterfall is a natural most beautiful creation, someone or somebody out there is certainly making a profitable business out of it.... i wonder, perhaps its for the trout food in the bottom pool ... or perhaps the grass cutting when the sheep are asleep !!!! NEVER AGAIN.
We have been visiting the falls for over 30 years 2-3 times a year and love them; a stunning example of natural beauty and our residents have always loved coming here. Sadly this was our last visit... Today wasn't an experience we enjoyed or expected. We had a group of people with disabilities with us and although the terrain is not ideal for wheelchairs we have coped and had a little routine where everyone goes to the loo when we arrive. For many years the toilets have been in a poor state of repair and maintenance and we understand from the 'site owner' that they belong to the council . However it is evident that the priority is to ensure that the toilets pay for themselves and a ridiculous turnstyle system has been installed possibly costing £1000's, and yep you guessed it not a penny has been spent on the dilapidated toilet facilities... People don't mind paying if they are clean, maintained and have hot and cold running water, these toilets fall far short. The turnstyle arrangement does not provide a facility to use a radar key to gain entry and you will have to ask for the guy (I assume the site owner) to open a side door to let wheelchairs through, which infringes / impacts on a persons independence and causes great inconvenience. We used the cafe as normal and ordered £90 of meals which were lovely and then asked if one of our party could use the cafe toilet, we were told that the cafe toilets were no longer for use by patrons and we had to return to the 'public' toilets and go through the whole rigmarole of waiting for someone to attend to gain entry, on this occasion it took 5 minutes with a young lady bursting for the loo and unable to gain entry. The turnstyle system does not work and allows just 6 seconds for someone to enter from the coin entering the slot, not ideal for a person with impaired movement and understanding. The guy witnessed this first hand, but was not really interested and had already told one of the other carers after she complained 'you are not welcome here anymore' We take heed of his words and shall not be returning and will take up the issue directly with the council and environmental health department regarding the lack of suitable facilities for hand washing and access for disabled persons. We have always found the gentlemen friendly and welcoming up until now, however we have never had reason to complain. We would not like our review to deter others from visiting this lovely spot, but hope the 'owner' of the site understands that customer service goes a long way and maybe a greater understanding of folk with disabilities would benefit him. and it is the norm to expect to use the toilet facilities and hand washing when eating at an establishment, maybe remove the exclusivity clause.
Nice place to visit but the road to it is a long single track road that seems never ending.
The two stars I have given are for the Falls only. we were pounced on for the car park money Disappointing facilities given tha the house is a bed and breakfast establishment and serves tea and coffee I was expecting at least the toilet to be on the premises and certainly not to have to pay, worse still it was a toilet Block with a turnstile and insultingly had to pay 20p for the privilege. Won't be recommending anyone
