The Lizard and Kynance Cove, Lizard
(4.7/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
The southernmost peninsula of the British mainland, The Lizard has a remote, wild quality that attracts visitors year-round. Take in the dramatic coastal scenery walking along the west coast's paths or wander through ancient woodlands around the Helford River on the east coast. Activities abound, including cycling, kayaking, and rock-pooling. Visit the Marconi Centre at Poldhu to learn about the birthplace of modern communication. In summer, choose from numerous beaches, including Kynance Cove, voted one of the world's most beautiful coastal spots. After a short climb down the heather-dappled hillside, you'll discover turquoise waters, serpentine rocks, and a white, sandy beach. Have a cup of tea or sample local Cornish fare at Kynance Cafe, serving food from Easter to November. Check tide information in advance, since in spring waters tend to submerge the beach. With our custom trip planner, Lizard attractions like The Lizard and Kynance Cove can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Fantastic scenery with great walks on the most southerly point in England. Thanks to The National Trust for preserving the area for the nation.

  • What can I say? Beautiful coastline with some moderate walks and some interesting sights. Kynance cove has a cafe with lovely food. Just up from the cafe you can find some prehistoric settlements. The other direction leads you to Lizard, past some gorgeous seascapes. Lizard itself had nice gift shops and pubs. Plenty to do and enjoy.
  • What a lovely little place, we took a 1 hour and 20 mins round trip twice to visit lizard village whilst we stayed in lelant on holiday. Great food places and gift shops and parking is ample with just a small donation to be paid. Would definitely recommend here for visits if you're staying close by. The people are really lovely and very welcoming also.
  • Excellent choice of walking routes here. Our favourite route is from the village centre car park to Kynance Cove for a coffee. Then along the coastal path to Lizard Point for lunch at Polpeor Cafe on the terrace overlooking the sea before cutting back to the village car park. Also a lovely walk from the Lizard to Cadgwith.
  • Weather changes your experience so beware BUT beauty comes either way - stormy takes your breath away, sunny relaxes you and leaves you with memories . Fog maybe not as good ! great to see - if you dont mind the walk park in Lizard village or park at the headland to avoid walking.
  • Great walk, not too challenging, busy in good weather, I'd suggest a less popular part of the coast path if you want some quiet.
