(1,200+ reviews on the web)
Landmark
The southernmost peninsula of the British mainland, The Lizard has a remote, wild quality that attracts visitors year-round. Take in the dramatic coastal scenery walking along the west coast's paths or wander through ancient woodlands around the Helford River on the east coast. Activities abound, including cycling, kayaking, and rock-pooling. Visit the Marconi Centre at Poldhu to learn about the birthplace of modern communication. In summer, choose from numerous beaches, including Kynance Cove, voted one of the world's most beautiful coastal spots. After a short climb down the heather-dappled hillside, you'll discover turquoise waters, serpentine rocks, and a white, sandy beach. Have a cup of tea or sample local Cornish fare at Kynance Cafe, serving food from Easter to November. Check tide information in advance, since in spring waters tend to submerge the beach. With our custom trip planner, Lizard attractions like National Trust - Lizard Point and Kynance Cove can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Absolutely beautiful spot, the most southernly point of mainland Britain. The Lighthouse has a great tour, informative and not too long. Walks can be taken in either direction with bays to discover at low tide. The café on top of the cliff overlooks the sea with seals popping their heads out of the water. Food and service are excellent. We had such a beautiful day there.
  • Took the walk from Kynance cove here along the coast and then cut back through the meadows (much quicker but not as pretty). Stunning place particulalry on the lovely sunny day we were there. Toilets can be a bit hard to find so take them when you see them.
  • Nice place, not overdeveloped. Lovely views. But only one toilet open in March?!! Meaning it was oversubscribed and a mess. Apparently it costs £10k a year to maintain them. That's some expensive loo roll...
  • Natural beauty and lots of great walks around the cliff paths. The polpeor cafe is always a great place to go for a drink or something to eat.
  • Lovely location, when we went it was quiet and all the information points were shut. however lovely views and location
