National Trust - Lizard Point and Kynance Cove, Lizard

(4.7/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
The southernmost peninsula of the British mainland, The Lizard has a remote, wild quality that attracts visitors year-round. Take in the dramatic coastal scenery walking along the west coast's paths or wander through ancient woodlands around the Helford River on the east coast. Activities abound, including cycling, kayaking, and rock-pooling. Visit the Marconi Centre at Poldhu to learn about the birthplace of modern communication. In summer, choose from numerous beaches, including Kynance Cove, voted one of the world's most beautiful coastal spots. After a short climb down the heather-dappled hillside, you'll discover turquoise waters, serpentine rocks, and a white, sandy beach. Have a cup of tea or sample local Cornish fare at Kynance Cafe, serving food from Easter to November. Check tide information in advance, since in spring waters tend to submerge the beach. With our custom trip planner, Lizard attractions like National Trust - Lizard Point and Kynance Cove can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Here, we have undertaken our most beautiful walks in Cornwall. Around every bend in the coast a new stunning skyline. Especially at Kynance Cove, there are magnificent views over the coastal area, very far in the country, and across the sea. We migrated most of Kynance Cove to the lizard. Free and one of the most beautiful experiences in Cornwall, to beat any of the coastal trail in Tintagel.

  • We visited both Kynance Cove and the Lizard today. It was a beautiful February day, and we sat on the beach at Kynance Cove eating our lunch in T-shirts! I would imagine this place looks lovely whatev...  more »
  • We parked in the village and took the short walk down to Lizard point. A lovely walk down on a path separated from the road. ( The only downside being the amount of dog mess-yuk! Why do people think i...  more »

  • The most Southernly point in the mainland UK is breathtaking all year round. Visiting out of season you miss the crowds, but pick you day and the scenery will thank you again and again!
  • Loved Lizard Point. But watching the seal wad an awesome and unexpected surprised. Really made my day. Most southerly shop in the UK is worth a visit too :)
  • It's just beautiful! The views are amazing and can't be beaten.
  • Southern most points in UK. Tea shop nearby not bad bustling pit stop. Otherwise it's not the most breathtaking spot on route around coast
  • If you don't like commercialism, this is much quieter than Land's End. Go here instead! The car park is National Trust owned. The lanes may make this tricky for less confident drivers to get to. The scenery is stunning, and this is the furthest point south in mainland UK... NOT Land's End! Cafés are good , and the National Trust volunteers are friendly and helpful. The walk to Kynance Cove along the coast path is lovely too.
