  • This church located in the suburb of Woolton - South of Liverpool - is an incredible importance, both for the music and for football. In the case of music, in the adjacent cemetery is the grave of Eleanor Rigby, woman who inspired the eponymous song of the Beatles included in the "Revolver" album of 1966. Adjoining on the West side of the cemetery, is the courtyard of a school kindergarten, where was the stage on which on July 6, 1957 Paul McCartney first saw John Lennon when this was playing on a stage. I visited that patio and took pictures to a mural painted on a wall with the faces of teenage Lennon and McCartney. Then cross the Street - Church Road – and visited the Community Hall of the Church where Lennon and McCartney speak for the first time, that same July 6, 1957. This time Paul played guitar for John and he was invited by this latest to join his band, The Quarrymen. In addition, at the offices of the Community Hall - The Hub - I bought a few memories that are for sale on that historic meeting (t-shirt, Bowl, Keyring, badges, pens, postcards). In terms of football, in the cemetery of the Church I visited the Tomb where lie the remains of Bob Paisley, the most successful coach of Liverpool FC, club of which I'm a fan many years ago. I should add that the current director pastor of the Church is Graham Paisley, son of footballer Bob Paisley, who precisely taught me Eleanor Rigby's grave for the first time I visited this historic church 12 years ago. This time, February 2017, unfortunately it wasn't, but I left him a note of greetings. I invite you visit this place anyone who is lover of the Beatles, Liverpool club, or simply for the ancient British religious architecture. I can assure that they will have a fantastic and unforgettable day.

  • This is pastor Brown from Florida, USA. Can the pastor of St. Peter's be contacted? If so, how? Would love to talk to him. Thanks!
  • Fantastic history around the Beatles and Eleanor Rigby
  • She died in the church and was buried along with her name.
  • Amazing place
  • Why do u think the Beatles etc dont set foot in your church, the tourist coach should go up quarry st to the victoriana pub which the Beatles artifacts are there? Not in your church that wakes an upsets residents with those bells? Now u have a gas leak and the road is blocked. Wake up and stop this fiction. Your house could make 5 luxury apartments with the best views in Liverpool?
