Anfield Stadium, Liverpool

(4.6/5 based on 4,400+ reviews on the web)
It’s often said jokingly that to understand Liverpool you must first understand its music and its football (soccer). Well Anfield Stadium boasts an iconic, almost spiritual place that enables you to fully appreciate the latter. The stadium--which serves as the home of Liverpool Football Club--has been around since 1884, and it’s not an understatement to say that it has become one of city’s most famous buildings; to step into Anfield is to step into the metaphorical heart of half the city’s football fans. Few experiences in sport match the spectacle of the Liverpool faithful singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" (from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "Carousel") in unison to greet their team. If you can't score a ticket to catch this in person, a tour can still help you soak in the stadium's atmosphere. Put Anfield Stadium at the forefront of your travel plans using our Liverpool tour planner.

  • This was the best part of my trip. I have watched Liverpool vs Tottenham match there. Can't fully express my feeling. It was super Awesome. Loved the place, great people. I still can feel the roaring sound from the stadium
  • Beautiful renovations to this legendary ground make it stunning and very family friendly around the grounds. Tours available, with a store, and restaurants open during the same time. Really a great place to be on match day and take in the atmosphere around the stadium. YNWA.
  • This is really unbelievable. Not one of the players that plays for Liverpool football club costs less than 10.000.000 pounds. Huge amounts of money are made here, large investment in the stadium done. And the whole world knows their song: you never walk alone. Is it on purpose that the surrounding neighborhood looks like WWII ended two weeks ago? All houses and shops boarded? No real investments in more than a century? Come on guys where is your responsibility?
  • Due to its closed structure, Anfield holds the sound of the crowd well, which is what contributes to its atmosphere. Indeed, the ritual of singing You'll Never Walk Alone before the start of every match will make any true Red's hair stand on end. First Aid provision is absolutely top quality. The food is expensive for what it is, but that's what you always get with a captive audience. Update: The Main Stand was recently upgraded. Now it has three tiers and much more space for spectators.
  • I will never forget touring the grounds in 2008. Walked into the dressing room, walked down the steps and reached up to touch the LFC metal placard that so many greats have touched over the years. A magical place that still retains that special quality that made it so unique then. Go if you can, even if you're not a supporter which I'm not.
