  • Lovely place, can't fault the staff or facilities. Only issue was the disappointing vegetarian lunch options. That being said, the whole place did have a bit of an incongruous vibe. It was like walking through a dream, every different but of furniture or interior design choice looks like it had been plucked out of somewhere familiar but mashed together it made your head spin. It was as if they had about 4 interior designers and none of them got along with each other. Pleasant stay anyway!
  • We stayed in the pods after a swim, sauna, watching a live act, having a lovely 3 course meal and chilling in the bar. Really comfortable stay finished off with a great breakfast. Great staff, beautiful venue
  • All-round wonderful service. The golf course was in decent condition. Interesting artwork, photographs, furniture and decor throughout a spacious and lovely building. And there's a hotel cat! Would highly recommend!
  • Overall the hotel is lovely but it does have a few down sides. We visited as guests for a wedding and stayed the night as well and our experience was as follows. As the hotel is also a golf club and spa there is quite a large mix of people, expect a lot to be walking round in shorts & sports shirts or bath robes. The signposting inside the hotel itself is quite confusing and sometimes non existent, however the staff are very friendly and very happy to help if you get lost. The function room/ballroom we used for the wedding breakfast was light and spacious with its own bar, toilets and outside balcony. As we visited on a particularly warm day we were thankful for the air-conditioning in the ballroom but not so much for the inadequate fan in the bedroom which meant a very uncomfortable nights sleep in an otherwise nicely appointed room. Breakfast is buffet style in the main dining room and was nothing special but had all the usual offerings. Overall we had a good stay but it was severely let down by the heat in the bedrooms.
  • Visited for a friend's wedding. The old thorns was fantastic, it's a beautiful location and everything was run so well.
