  • went to feed the ducks/swans/geese one geese was a bit impatient and nearly bit my hand off. i think for the £2.50 parking charge Wigan council should really feed the ducks/ geese/ swans as they seeme...  more »
  • lovely place very close to east lancs for a stroll or something more energetic if desired. The canal runs parallel and is a great place for a casual ride on your mountain bike.  more »
  • Took about 30 minutes to get here from liverpool down the east lancs and surprisingly easy to find. Decent size car park (cost £1.20) and there are a couple of food and ice cream vans in case you get ...  more »

  • A peaceful country park to visit in the Leigh area. It has some great bird watching hides where you can watch and photograph bullfinches, reed bunting, robins, squirrels, kingfishers, herons, and much more! There's plenty of swans, mallards, gulls and geese too on the flash water itself which also plays host to a yachting club. A decent place to take your dog for a walk or run on the large field, to do a spot of walking around the many dirt tracks, to take the kids to (they have a small playground) or just for spending a nice sunny afternoon there. There's parking and toilet facilities at the Flash with an ice-cream van and food van there on most days if you're feeling peckish.

  • Nice place to visit but think it's a lot better if you have a dog and also if your into bird watching as the bird watching stations are a nice touch..
  • Good walks around the flash, a complete circular walk is achievable, but poorly signed.
  • Lovely place for a quiet walk. Wooded areas or along the side of the flash (lake), which was created by subsidence of mine workings. Walk past the flash and you come to the canal. If you're a geocacher, there are large numbers of caches in the park area.
