One of the rare places you can go together with your teenage son. Free to entry, you can spend a whole day, so much to see. Mainly old small weapons, from everywhere around the world. Not boring. Pick...  more »

The museum is very informative and entertaining, plus there is the canal just outside with a free ferry to / from the town centre. My only slight criticism is that it was not obvious how best to walk ...  more »

  • Countless items of historical significance displayed magnificently! As a history is my hobby, this place certainly peaked my interest as the many weapons, armour and priceless information to fuel my satisfaction. I would recommend all to have a look whether history is or isn't you're thing, you are bound to have a good time.
  • Very interesting and informative displays. The on site team are also extremely helpful. The location is obviously popular for school trips as there were a number present. The on site shop also offers good ideas for presents for friends and family.
  • Lovely live displays by staff. The collection is amazing and the jacket potato Is inexpensive. Also you can bring your own food
  • Visited just after xmas. Short walk from town. Loads parking nearby in multi storey. Lots of space, particularly liked the actors demonstrating how to fight with swords, daggers and spears. Quite gruesome techniques discussed but very interesting. They also had archery lessons. Enjoyed most of the exhibits and the layout although some areas needed a bit of cleaning up/attending. Oriental exhibition is quite good and "hall of steel" near the lift areas is particularly impressive. Shop is quite big, good selection of items Would visit again. Recommended.
  • Exceptional. Everything you could want in a military museum. Very professionally run. Fantastic exhibits displayed to maximise their accessibility. Yes, I'm impressed!
